Abstract

The article examines modern foreign practices in the development of personnel potential in the health care area and outlines the prospects for the implementation of relevant measures in Ukraine. It is revealed that the development of the potential of the personnel is primarily related to its training, which includes a formal orientation program, cross-functional training, support of professional skills, coaching, career development and personal development. The benefits of various forms of training for the healthcare sector are provided related to the maintenance of medical workers; promoting their morale; fostering effectiveness of practice; developing job competence; keeping patients’ satisfaction. Various methods aimed at increasing personnel potential, which are used in foreign practice, are examined, in particular, management training for first-line managers in the healthcare area; orientation practices for new medical professionals; effective professional training, etc. A review of foreign practices that are free of charge is provided, they are book clubs; educational programs for medical workers; government-supported programs; internal training programs, etc. The role and significance of other factors in the development of personnel potential in the area of health care are examined, in particular - benefits from membership in a professional association; coaching and mentoring. Recommendations are developed for the implementation of Western practice in the Ukrainian healthcare system related to the transformation of the system of continuous professional development of healthcare workers in accordance with international standards on improving the quality of medical education based on the accumulative principle of activity; implementation of unified modular programs of post-graduate education of employees on the most relevant problems of health care theory and practice; inclusion in the structure of modules of postgraduate education of specialists in mandatory clinical practice, aimed at teaching modern methods and technologies of providing medical care.
