THE PROBLEM OF EVALUATION OF POST-COMMUNIST TRANSFORMATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND IN POLISH HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract

The article traces the assessment of the post-communist transformation in the Republic of Poland in Polish historiography, which is relevant given the considerable attention in Ukraine to the Polish experience of reforms.

The purpose of the study is to identify, analyze, generalize and systematize the study and evaluation of post-communist transformation in the Republic of Poland by Polish scientists and politicians.

The scientific novelty of the study is to generalize and systematize the assessment of post-communist transformation by Polish politicians and scholars and to identify the impact of this assessment on the practice and prospects of reforms.

Conclusions. The analysis confirms the observation of significant attention of Polish scholars and politicians to the characteristics of post-communist transformation. Neoliberal (L. Baltserovych and others) and pragmatic (G. Kolodko, V. Kizyun and others) approaches of Polish politicians and scientists to reforms are revealed and characterized. A characteristic feature of public administration in Poland is the involvement of scholars in public administration. According to the author, none of the approaches denies the very essence of transformation. All the authors agree that socialism did not meet social and economic expectations, so we had to change the system. However, this does not mean the perfection of what arose on the ruins of the previous economy, and the path of transformation was chosen optimally. The author also claims that Polish capitalism was the result of an experiment. “Shock therapy” was supposed to quickly stimulate the rapid development of a market economy, but its price is estimated by economists differently, given the author's political and scientific position.
